5 Best bakeries and dessert shops in Palermo, Buenos Aires

I recently was fortunate enough to enjoy a relaxing and fun vacation in Argentina. And what I most liked was being able to try and eat desserts in Palermo, Buenos Aires.

Palermo is probably one of the most residential yet touristic areas in Buenos Aires. You can find a lovely small bakery around the block, the delicious homemade ice cream shop two blocks away, and even the neighborhood favorite bar where to grab a drink with your friends.

The places we go to and visit, or stop by to grab a bite and taste the local food will always be different because as visitors we are all different.

In my case, as mentioned before, I am always in search of the best desserts and that was not a different mission in Buenos Aires.

There is no specific order but I will mention a few which I feel were the highlight to my dessert research around the Palermo district.

1.  Decata Pasteleros

It is also known only as Decata, from the outside it is a small store but once you go inside you will see a great and balanced list of options for meal.

As the name itself mentions, they are pros at baking so you will find among the best muffins, cheesecakes, lemon pies, and the traditional Argentinian medialunas.

2. Lucciano's

Next, we have a famous ice cream shop which started with popsicles and then expanded to giving the traditional scoop ice cream flavors.

I didn't get to try their popsicles but they looked fun and delicious, at least the chocolate covered ones which are my favorite.

You can go for a traditional scoop of chocolate and vanilla, or choose a combination of coconut and dulce de leche among other crazy combinations.

3. Cremolatti

Another great ice cream store which I magically came across because it was literally 2 blocks away from my accommodation. The most fun fact about it was that it opened around 8 am and did not close before 1 am, so even if you had a late lunch like every local in the city, you could go for a midnight ice cream.

They have quite the selection of traditional and new flavors that are worth the try.

4. Lievito Madre

Although it is a small bakery shop on Palermo Soho they have a lovely and delicious selection of homemade bread, medialunas, and my favorite is their variety of sweet pastries. Even in the morning, I could find some options for fresh-baked cookies or an apple tart that works perfectly for any time of day.

You can also go for the traditional facturas and make a combination of the ones with pastry filling, marmalade, or even the amazing dulce de leche.

5. Le Pain Quotidien

It is a well-known bakery in the city of Buenos Aires, almost found as popular as a Starbucks in every street. And yet they keep the traditional flavors and presentations of their products.

Went in to enjoy not one but two sweet desserts, a coconut alfajor style pastry filled with dulce de leche, and a Belgian chocolate brownie. Personally they were a little over with the sugar, but if you are not very special about your taste buds it is perfect in the combination of the ingredients and cooking process.

Hope you enjoyed my summary on some of the best desserts found in bakeries and ice cream stores around Palermo, Buenos Aires.

May your next visit be filled with delicious sweets that will make your trip even better!
